Over 450,000 Australians are blind or vision impaired and yet 80% of all blindness is avoidable or treatable.
These statistics motivate the Queensland Eye Institute (QEI) Foundation each and every day to SAVE SIGHT.
We provide innovation and excellence in research, education and clinical care to reduce eye disease, improve eye health, and ultimately eliminate preventable blindness in the community.
For as little as the price of a cup of coffee each week, you could make an incredible impact and ultimately eliminate preventable blindness in our community.
For example:
$5 per week for one year ($260 p.a.) could fund 100 experiments to test new drugs that might protect the retina from damaging inflammation in eye disease.
You may even be able to DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT by asking your employer to match your donation or get your family, friends and colleagues involved too!
With $10 per week for one year ($520 p.a.) this could enable our scientists to take a pinprick of a patient’s own eye cells and grow 10 million cells within one month. This could provide better treatment outcomes for up to 10 patients.
With no government funding the Queensland Eye Institute Foundation’s survival relies solely on the generosity of donors, businesses and the community.
