Right now, the situation across Asia Pacific is heartbreaking. Over the past week, countries in the Asia Pacific region have continued to experience new waves of COVID-19 infections, which are threatening to overwhelm hospitals and already fragile healthcare systems.

Daily new cases are still increasing in Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Bangladesh, resulting in a devastating number of infections and deaths. Overall, the Asia Pacific region has recorded over 41.3 million COVID-19 cases, and more than 605,000 deaths. People are losing loved ones and livelihoods are being destroyed.

Australian Red Cross is raising funds to help local Red Cross and Red Crescent teams across the region scale up their emergency response, and continue their life-saving work on the ground.

Australian Red Cross welcomes donations to support responses in the Asia Pacific region through the Asia Pacific COVID-19 Appeal, allowing us to respond to emerging and evolving needs in various geographic contexts as needed.

Donations will go towards supporting our local partners across the Asia Pacific to scale up their emergency response to these COVID-19 surges and sustain their essential services such as health, water, sanitation and hygiene services for the worst impacted people and communities.

Your support will help people in the region to:

• Sustain their health, build community trust access to and acceptance of vaccines, have access to the knowledge they need to protect each other from transmission, support and deliver vital therapeutic treatments to people suffering from COVID-19.


• Ease the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 through the provision of food and other essential assistance including cash grants.


• Help Red Cross to keep their staff and volunteers safe by providing PPE and training and access to COVID-19 testing, as they work with and support people and communities impacted by COVID-19.

Your generosity will enable Australian Red Cross and the Red Cross movement to continue their activities to reduce COVID-19 transmission and support people who are most vulnerable to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across the Asia Pacific region.

N.B. Australian Red Cross will not deduct more than 10% of money raised to cover indirect administrative and appeal costs such as receipting donations, IT costs, costs to send funds overseas and overheads.
