Did you know that the St Kilda breakwater, behind St Kilda pier, is home to a resident colony of 1200 Little Penguins? They nest in between the rocks where they lay their eggs and raise their chicks. The breakwater is in need of maintenance, particularly to prevent erosion that could have implications for the penguins’ nests. Litter on the beach also makes it's way into the penguin nests and is a risk to chicks.
Your donation helps the EcoCentre support young people as part of the RE-Generation project to care for the Penguins through biodiversity research, litter monitoring and penguin habitat improvement, bringing some love to the Little Penguins.
