During the school holidays our Kookaburra Kids go from being a part time carer to a full time carer. Having an ill parent can mean each day is about caring for their mum/dad or taking care of the household duties. Kids living in families affected by mental illness don't get trips away or even an outing to the movies. That is of course unless they are a Kookaburra Kid.
Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation takes the kids out for a day during the school holidays. This is a great catch up in between camps and generally a day packed full of fun. A chance to simply to be a kid.
