Laptops for Learning
$ 500.00
Variety's Laptops for Learning programme helps bridge the digital divide for disadvantaged children by providing laptops or digital devices to:
  • Low decile schools across New Zealand
  • Children in financial hardship who do not have access to technology
  • Children that have special medical or learning needs where specialised technology will enhance their quality of life and ability to learn
For today’s students, access to technology is vital for high-quality learning opportunities and future growth and development. However, the reality is that many young people do not have access to IT devices in their homes. While digital devices are more commonly found in classrooms, many low-decile schools across New Zealand (of which there are over 750 schools that are decile 1, 2 and 3) simply cannot afford to supply digital devices to supplement classroom learning.

Laptops for Learning enables young people to use a digital device as part of their in-class learning, and to be able to take it home when required. This provides students with access to the information they need to support their learning across the curriculum. Having access to technology empowers youth to maximise their learning, and in this digital age it is integral to students’ success that they are proficient in using computers and the Internet.

Laptops for Learning also funds devices for individual disadvantaged children with specialised needs. Variety provides tailored, flexible support, and with each child’s needs being very different, the programme also caters to the needs of specific individuals.
