Under the terms of the deed of The Karma Currency Foundation  the Karma Currency Foundation can only forward donations to organisations that are registered on the New Zealand Charities Register and are Donee Organisations for New Zealand tax purposes.

Donee organisation has the meaning given by the Income Tax Act 2007.  In general terms this means that either:

·       It is a organisation described under section LD 3 of the Income Tax Act 2007 (for example, charitable organisations or other recognised tax exempt enterprises such as schools);

·       It is listed in Schedule 32 of the Income Tax Act 2007 (which relates to organisations having charitable purposes outside of New Zealand).

An organisation's name can be used to search the New Zealand Inland Revenue online register of Donee Organisations available at http://www.ird.govt.nz/donee-organisations/donee-organisations-index.html.

An organisation’s name can be used to search the New Zealand Register of Charities for confirmation that it is a registered charity.  The register is available at http://www.charities.govt.nz.

Unless The Karma Currency Foundation agrees otherwise, Organisations must be shown under both of these online registers.

It is free for charities to advertise volunteer roles however charities wanting to receive donations pay an annual membership fee of $300+GST or $540+GST for two years. There are no other collection, administration, handling or processing charges. Membership gives you access to the goodcompany.org/nz portal plus all Workplace Giving sub sites.

Businesses cover the cost of Workplace Giving programs to ensure that 100 per cent of staff donations reach your charity. For all other donations, the donor only incurs the bank processing fees of 2.9% + 30c on top of the original total donation value, therefore ensuring that 100% of the money donated to a charity, gets to that charity.
